Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best known for her roles in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out of high school, and relocating in Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. Her portrayal as Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder, in the television film Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. In 2004, Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main actor for the first two seasons winning an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was keen to pursue film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. She has appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 as well as in Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation to the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon's part in Lost for two additional episodes. This included the series final. In 2013, she was in the seventh season Californication. She portrays Faith, who is the muse and fan of the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also co-starred with her older sister in Donnie Darko the cult classic. Then she appeared as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win a Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the romance comedy Secretary (2002). The two movies were critically acclaimed. Her fame grew when she portrayed Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films she starred in the year the year 2006. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who is a single parent was nominated in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang and Hysteria. Some of her other roles are as an agent for The Secret Service in White House Down 2013 as well as a singer in Frank 2014, and as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the lead role. Gyllenhaal's debut as a director and writer came in 2021 when she wrote The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
