Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. As a child she was enrolled in at the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was just six when she realized she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford in which she learned acting and singing. She had already performed in several Stagecoach and school productions by the time she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The movie beat all previous records on opening day and weekend revenues, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics have praised both the film, as well as the performance of the three principal young actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. Emma got five nominations in recognition of her exceptional performance. In the end, she received the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in the Film.
